Guide
Is it OK to use an AI-generated photo on LinkedIn?
Yes, if three things hold: it is a photo of you, it looks like you, and you are open that it is AI-generated. A profile photo is how people recognise you before a call or a meeting, so it should match the person who shows up. An AI-generated photo made from your own recent photos can do that; one that makes you look like someone else can’t.
What does LinkedIn say about profile photos?
That it must reflect your likeness. LinkedIn’s profile photo guidelines say you can use “an illustration, caricature, or other artistic rendering of yourself, but your profile photo must reflect your likeness”, and its Professional Community Policies say “Do not use an image of someone else, or any other image that is not your likeness, for your profile photo.” Neither page mentions AI-generated photos by name (as of 1 November 2026). The rule both state is likeness, and LinkedIn decides whether a photo meets it and can remove one that doesn’t. FreshFrame is not affiliated with LinkedIn.
Will people think an AI headshot looks tacky?
What tends to read as tacky is a photo that doesn’t match you: a face smoother than yours, a studio look you have never had, a suit you don’t wear. Describe the photo you would actually take on a good day, at your own desk or somewhere you work, in your own clothes, and keep only the ones that look like you.
Should I say the photo is AI-generated?
Being open costs little. Every photo FreshFrame makes is labelled AI-generated in its file name and metadata and carries Google’s SynthID watermark, which is invisible. Sites often rename files and remove metadata when you upload, so don’t count on the file to say it for you. If you want people to know, say so, and if someone asks, say how you made it.
Which photos should I start from?
Recent ones. Upload 4–8 photos of just you, with your face clear, taken on different days. Read the photo upload guide.
What should I describe for a work photo?
Where you work and what you wear there: “at my desk in a bright office, navy blazer, soft daylight, relaxed”. Read how to describe your photo.
Can I make more than one?
Yes. A session keeps up to 10 photos you approve, so you can have one for your profile and others for posts, a speaker bio or a company page. Up to 60 rounds of changes, and you can reopen the session within 7 days.
Ready to start from your own photos?
Upload recent photos of just you, pick the one that looks most like you, and describe the photo you would take on a good day.
